Welcome Home, Copper & Russet! Como’s New Porcupines Are Settling In Nicely

There are some new prickly personalities at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory—and they’re already stealing hearts!

We’re excited to officially introduce Copper and Russet, two porcupines who were rehomed from the now-closed SeaQuest facility in Roseville. Thanks to the incredible collaboration between Como Zoo, the Minnesota Zoo, SEA LIFE at Mall of America, and other accredited organizations, hundreds of animals were given a second chance—including these two curious climbers.

After spending time behind the scenes receiving expert care, health checks, and enrichment from our dedicated animal care team, Copper and Russet moved into their brand-new habitat at Como Zoo on April 9. They’re already settling in beautifully and showing off their unique personalities—sniffing around their habitat, climbing branches, and munching on their favorite snacks.

Visitors can now see Copper and Russet during regular zoo hours. They’re a great example of Como’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and we’re thrilled to give them a safe, stimulating, and enriching new home.

Come visit, snap a photo, and help us welcome these two lovable additions to the Como Zoo family!
