Do you enjoy working with people in an environment filled with plants and animals? Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is now hiring seasonal part-time positions in the Visitor Services Department. Zoo & Conservatory Attendants provide excellent customer service, collect donations, assist in administering first aid, staff events and special exhibits and serve as public educators teaching visitors about plants, animals and conservation at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.

Duration: June 9 – August 29, 2025 (minimum three weeks required)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, ~32 hours per week
Compensation: $750 weekly stipend plus $300 training stipend
Here’s what you can expect to do:
- Prepare and teach assigned camp curriculum
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
- Ensure quality, safety, and consistency in all camp activities
- Manage classrooms and outdoor settings at the zoo and conservatory
- Build positive relationships with campers, parents/guardians, and volunteer assistants
- Adapt and creatively deliver curriculum while problem-solving on the fly
Position Requirements
- Teaching license or equivalent credentials
- Minimum of 1 year of classroom experience with PreK–6th grade
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
*Parks Worker I – Seasonal/Temporary
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Light labor assisting in the janitorial maintenance of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory grounds and buildings
- Facility set ups for events, weddings, and daily operations of grounds
- Other duties as assigned
Note: Positions at Como Campus must be available to work weekends.

Apprenticeships
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory features many fascinating connections between humans, plants, and animals. We currently offer two different paid year-long Apprenticeships through St Paul’s Right Track program.
Our Zookeeper Apprentices will gain career learning in animal husbandry, data collection, and food preparation as well as ongoing professional skills trainings.
Our Horticulture Apprentices will gain career learning in plant maintenance, greenhouse production, and preparing floral displays as well as ongoing professional skills trainings.
Before getting started, please note that we are looking for candidates:
- 18- 24 years old
- Residing in the City of St Paul or Ramsey County
- Experiencing a barrier to employment or belonging to a cost burdened household
- Pursuing a career or degree in a related field of study
