Alex Heveri’s “Glass in Flight 2” traveling art exhibit, consisting of enlarged steel and glass butterflies, moths, dragonflies, beehives, beetles, birds, ants and praying mantis are bedazzling. Her up-sized, colorful and glittering insect sculptures delight viewers across America, fostering a love of insects for their beauty and global importance.
Iowa-raised, Minneapolis-based Ben Cook-Feltz is a singer, songwriter, drummer and keyboardist. Combining observational, sometimes quirky lyrics with melodies that hearken back to the 60′s and 70′s, he and his band has been entertaining audiences throughout the Midwest.

The Foxgloves are an all-female band with songs you won’t be able to stop humming. A little bit of country, a little bit of folk, a little bit of classical, and a whole lot of heart — your toes will tap of their own accord.

Little Explorers is a FREE program from 10:00AM-noon on Thursdays in the Visitor Center in the Winter and on the zoo grounds in the Summer. Perfect for the 1-3 year old (but every age is welcome) to meet animal and plant visitors, see story time, play games and many other fun activities. Different theme each week! An ASL interpreter will be here most Thursdays interpreting the 10:30 story time, 11am zookeeper talk, and the 11:30am Blaze Sparky Show.
Music, martial arts, singing, dancing, drumming, delicious food, vendors, games, and other aspects of Japanese culture will be featured at the annual Como Park Japanese Obon Festival on the grounds of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory from 3:00pm – 9:00pm on Sunday, August 18. At the end of the Obon festival, lanterns are released into the water so that the spirits can return to the other world. We will be selling only advanced tickets again in 2024. More details to come!

Senior Strolls and Sunset Senior Strolls is a special time set aside just for those 55-and-better. This is an opportunity to visit the zoo and/or the conservatory for a leisurely walk before or after our busy normal business hours, as well as special activities and guests. This event is a great opportunity for Seniors to enjoy a free event that encourages being active and social with some adult learning to spice it up.
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is an energetic, colorful place full of sensory stimuli, and we know this environment can be overwhelming for some guests. This is a time designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Como strives to provide a positive, welcoming experience for every visitor.
