We are a proud recipient of investment from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment (Legacy Amendment) Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Minnesota voters approved the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment in November, 2008. The Legacy Amendment supports outdoor heritage, clean water, parks and trails, as well as arts, history and cultural heritage. As a Legacy fund beneficiary from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory is able to provide educational experiences for people of all ages.

Lil’ Explorers is a FREE program from 10:00AM-noon on Thursdays in the Visitor Center in the Winter and on the zoo grounds in the Summer. Perfect for the 1-3 year old (but every age is welcome) to meet animal and plant visitors, see story time, play games and many other fun activities. Different theme each week! An ASL interpreter will be here every Thursday through March from 10:15am-12:15pm interpreting both Lil’ Explorer story times and the 11:30am Sparky Show!
Join us in the tropical gardens, and beat the “winter-blahs” as live, local musicians play blues, bluegrass and ballads from 4:30-6:30pm. The concerts are free and beer and wine will be available to purchase. No reservations required. These concerts are standing room only. Because of fire code regulations, there are no chairs set-up.
It’s Mardi Gras time! The high-spirited Cajun dance music of the New Riverside Ramblers comes from the rich musical heritage of the bayous and prairies of south Louisiana. The band covers a spectrum from old-style fiddle tunes, lively two-steps, soulful waltzes, gritty blues to rockin’ honky-tonk sounds – all the sounds from the dance halls and back porches of rural Louisiana. The Cajun French vocals are at times plaintive, raucous, happy, or sad, but always expressive. Inspired by legendary Cajun musicians, the Ramblers overlay their own infectious feel that gets toes tapping. Their music can be as soulful as a sultry evening on the bayou or spicy enough to grab your boogie shoes – dancers and audiences always “pass a good time.”

“Frankly, I haven’t heard harmonies like this since Crosby, Stills, Nash & young. It’s turn your head kinda stuff! This recording “The Lexington Stretch” showcases their musical talent. It demonstrates the hard work and dedication they put into this.” -BluesHighwayUS61

Longtime St. Paulite Mary Cutrufello and moved-here-right-before-the-pandemic newcomer Trevor McSpadden create a potent combo of roots rock and country crooning. Mary’s sharp lead guitar work combines well with Trevor’s nimble songwriting and singing, and the pair’s Buck-Owens-meets-the-BoDeans harmonies make for a danceable, listenable, and just plain enjoyable afternoon.
Join us for the last Music Under Glass for 2023 in the tropical gardens, and beat the “winter-blahs” as live, local musicians play blues, bluegrass and ballads from 4:30-6:30pm. The concerts are free and beer and wine will be available to purchase.
