“Party For The Planet” Sponsored By Xcel Energy, 10-4 Saturday and Sunday

After a two-year hiatus, it’s time to celebrate “Party for the Planet” in person again at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory on April 23 and 24. Sponsored by our friends at Xcel Energy, Como’s annual Earth Day and conservation celebration is a full weekend of family activities, crafts and interpretive opportunities to learn more about the earth’s amazing animals and plants, and what we can do to protect them. Be sure to visit Xcel Energy’s Tiny House for some big ideas for cutting your carbon footprint and to receive a free LED light bulb!
Gorillas on the Line…Answer the Call is a yearly global mobile phone recycling challenge organized by the Gorilla SAFE engagement team. Como is collecting cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets, apple watches, adapters, chargers, mp3 players, handheld gaming systems, and headphones. Looking around your own home is a great way to start; almost everyone has one or two outdated devices laying around. We will have a cell phone box in the Visitor Center to collect these devices, The campaign lasts until April 30. Proceeds from recycled devices support Gorilla SAFE conservation initiatives.
2022 Party For The Planet’s Theme is Healthy Habitats!
Bring the family for a fun weekend of activities, crafts, Storytime with St. Paul Public Libraries, and education programs that explore animals, plants and people that depend on this big blue ball. You’ll leave with some great ideas for reducing your own impact on the planet and improving our natural habitats.
