Three Big Happenings at Como This Weekend! Immerse yourself in the Tropics, enjoy a new flower show, and groove to live music!
Join Us for a Tropical SnowFari Weekend
Flee winter at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory during “Tropical Snowfari Weekend”, 10am – 4pm. January 13, 14, & 15. Enjoy free special activities throughout the zoo and conservatory with animal enrichments, crafts, games, and interactive stations. Discover the hidden gems and the secrets of Como’s Tropical Encounters exhibit with Como’s biggest social media stars, Como Live’s Kelsey, and Ashley aka Tiger Van Lady. Guests will encounter freshwater stingrays, river turtles, frogs, toads, fish, free-roaming birds, an anaconda and Chloe the sloth. They will also view rainforest trees and plants including strangler fig, kapok, cecropia, annatto, mahogany, peach palm, balsa, ice cream bean and more. Where else can you experience a tropical getaway this far north of the equator?
Opening Thursday, January 11 and running to March 17 is the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory’s Winter Flower Show. The 2024 Winter Flower Show features a stunning display of flowering trees and shrubs. Highlights will include purple azaleas, tropical hibiscus, fragrant gardenias, and pink camelias. Purple and white cyclamen, white amaryllis, pansies, assorted cineraria, and foxglove provide additional floral accents throughout the show.
On Sunday afternoons stroll the tropical gardens with a beer or wine as live, local musicians perform from 4:30-6:30pm at Como’s “Music Under Glass” free concert series. On January 14, Nathan Griner with cellist Matthew Probst perform in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. Nathan Griner’s style has a huge range of passion and grit. He also has a very unique show to experience. Nathan has never been an artist that has been boxed into one specific genre. His sound is as raw as Neil Young and as fun and energetic as the Lumineers, mixed into a style all his own. His take on the obscure covers and his songwriting abilities leave audiences wanting to hear more.
